APR Software overview / FAQ

APR ECU upgrade – Stage 1 software:
This is a performance software upgrade for your car, precisely calibrated by APR’s Engineers. This replaces the factory software with APR performance code. This software has been written as an upgrade onto a standard car. You have a choice at the point of installation of choosing either 95RON – 98RON or 100RON software to be installed. Note that not all combinations are valid on all engines types.
APR offer the choice of Fuel pump specific software for the 2.0 TFSI engine, at the point of installation for no additional cost.

Typical Stage 1 software costs are as follows: (Please see the link here for accurate pricing)

1.8T 20v engine = £375+Vat
1.8 / 2.0 TFSI / TSI Transverse engine = £499+Vat
S4 / 2.7T engines = £499+Vat
For 2.0 TFSI engines where applicable Fuel Pump Specific software upgrades are available, these are priced as per the stage 1 software above.

APR ECU upgrade – Stage 2 software:
This is a performance software upgrade for your car, precisely calibrated by APR’s Engineers. However with all stage 2 codes you are required to have additional hardware modifications present on the vehicle such as a full Turbo back exhaust, High flow intake system and also advised is an up rated intercooler etc. APR offer the choice of Fuel Pump specific software for the 2.0 TFSI engine, at the point of installation for no additional cost.

You have a choice at the point of installation of choosing either 95RON – 98RON or 100RON software to be installed – to suit the fuel grade that you run on the engine on. Note that not all combinations are valid on all engines.

Typical Stage 2 software costs are as follows: (Please see the link here for accurate pricing)

1.8T 20v engine = £500+Vat
1.8 / 2.0 TFSI / TSI Transverse engine = £624+Vat
S4 / 2.7T engines = £624+Vat
For 2.0 TFSI engines where applicable Fuel Pump Specific software upgrades are available, these are priced as per the stage 2 software above.

What options are available to you?
EMCS stands for Enhanced Modular Chipping System. The software contained within the ECU allows the following advanced features to be optionally added to the basic APR software upgrade.
Please note that some features may only be available for certain vehicles.

Flip Switch: Using the cruise control stalk you are able to switch between up to four separate ECU programs such as Stock, 98RON or 100RON performance programs alongside Valet mode.

Security Lock out feature: Using a unique 4 digit access code that is entered by the cruise control stalk, the end user can ‘lock’ the selected mode into the ECU. For example this means that another user of the car cannot simply choose to drive in the performance mode if you have locked the car in Valet mode or ‘stock’ mode. You must enter the Security lock out code to ‘allow’ you to change the ECU mode.

Anti Theft System: This theft deterrent system prevents the engine from being started by unauthorised personal even if they have the keys. The engine will crank over but not actually start. The Anti Theft System comes complete with the Security Lock out feature.

Fault Code Erase: This option allows you to erase and reset engine fault codes without the need for a specialist tool.
Throttle Body Realignment: This option allows you to manually perform a throttle body adaptation process to your engine.

APR Flipswitch option information:
APR software configures the factory ECU to hold ‘slots’ of extra functionality internally. The cruise control stalk is used to select the required additional functionality within the ECU – however the cruise control remains fully functional and is not physically altered in any way.

Slot 1: (Default location if the battery is removed)
could contain the Stock performance file.
Slot 2: Could contain the 95 RON APR performance software.
Slot 3:
Could contain the 98 RON APR performance software.
Slot 4
:
Could contain a Valet mode (Limiting the engine RPM and hence performance)

How the
APR EMCS Flipswitch works:
The process below explains details of how to switch between different programs loaded within the APR programmed ECU, between for example Stock and 98 RON programs. Please note that the Fault code erase, Throttle body alignment and Anti theft still use the cruise control stalk but the method of switching / enabling is slightly different to those explained below. Full details are provided with the software instruction manual for APR owners.

Step 1
Press and hold the "set" button on your cruise control. After approximately five seconds, the "check engine" light on your dash will begin to blink once per second. This will tell you that you are activating program one. This blinking sequence will continue for approximately five seconds.

After this five second interval, the "check engine" light will begin blinking twice per second. This will indicate that you have activated the second program. This process is continued to access any remaining programs you may have purchased. (three blinks = program three, four blinks = program four).

Step 2
Once you have activated the desired program, simply release the "set" button. The "check engine" light will stop flashing. Turn the ignition key off for 10 seconds, turn the key back on and wait for another 10 seconds. You will be locked in that program until you decide to change it again. The Flipswitch operation is as simple as that.
